Select Board · Meeting of July 29, 2026
NORTH ADAMS — The North Adams City Council voted 9-0 to approve $730,741.06 in fiscal year 2026 budget closeout transfers. Mayor Jennifer A. Maxey walked councilors through shortfalls including $84,008 for transfer station trash costs, $112,485 for snow and ice removal, and $138,000 for engineering on the Ashland Street Corridor and Walnut Street projects. Councilors amended the order to correct two Parks and Recreation and Windsor Lake lines mislabeled as "salaries" before final passage.
Councilor Breen said the transfers reflected real completed projects: "We're not buying the budget. We're not buying paperclips." Separately, Peter Glazer of the North Adams Historical Society told the council the group's artifact collection must leave the All Saints Church basement by September 1, warning "we've been unsuccessful so far finding an alternate space."
